Product Description Practical Guide to Surface Science and Spectroscopy provides a practical introduction to surface science as well as describes the basic analytical techniques that researchers use to understand what occurs at the surfaces of materials and at their interfaces. These techniques include auger electron spectroscopy, photoelectron spectroscopy, inelastic scattering of electrons and ions, low energy electron diffraction, scanning probe microscopy, and interfacial segregation. Understanding the behavior of materials at their surfaces is essential for materials scientists and engineers as they design and fabricate microelectronics and semiconductor devices.

The best introduction to surface science This is a short, introductory book on surface science literally. It is very much suitable for undergraduate science and engineering students. It may sound too light for graduate students. However, if you are looking for a very simple and fundamental book, this is what you need. A lot of basic topics are discussed very successfully such as ultrahigh vacuum technology (UHV), scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), Auger electron spectroscopy (AES), photoemission, adsorption and the like. The attached CD contains a great deal of fun, illustrative and instructive schemes, charts etc. It really enhances the overall quality of the book. | ||
