Product Description The OCTOPUS method provides a systematic approach for developing object-oriented software for embedded real-time systems. This book describes the well-integrated OCTOPUS development process that covers the major phases of developing software. From requirements specifications to implementation, the models are continuously and clearly linked. Covers concurrency, synchronization, communication, the handling of interrupts, ASICs, hardware interfaces, and end-to-end response time through the system. For object-oriented software developers, programmers, and embedded-system engineers.

A thorough book for development of real-time OO systems This book is a very thorough, in-depth, and detailed explanation of the OCTOPUS method used with great success at Nokia. Since it uses the Fusion notation, which is based on OMT, it is slightly dated with the widespread acceptance of the next-generation UML. It also reveals a quite complex, brute-force process which, while methodical and proven successful for Nokia, would require some sophisticated tool support to be conveniently implemented. Still, it is a book well worth buying and studying, especially considering the lack of other titles on the subject
