Reviews

Kudos to Savage and Armstrong
The authors have written a book that is extremely practical. As a student in a methods class, I was able to use the ideas in the classroom where I was placed. My master teacher was impressed with what I had to offer and purchased a copy of the book for himself. I appreciate the blend of theory and practice the book offers. Practical applications are important, but without the theoretical perspectives they mean nothing. This book gives us both. I recommend it to new teachers especially. It was obviously written by people who have spent time in classrooms and who really know social studies.

Non_Effective Teaching Guide...
This book is not for those who have experience in the social studies, or experience in working in classrooms.

It presents a lot of vague theory and not many concrete ideas on how to get subject matter taught to your students. YOu had best hope if this book is a required text that your professor has a passion for social studies, and has ideas on how to convey all that social studies really has to offer.
