useful but dated With introductions by the editor, Suzi Gablik, Fritjof Capra, and Thomas Berry, this is an anthology of essays by 33 artists about their ecological work. A few of the better known to those familiar with the field are Nancy Holt, Buster Simpson, Mel Chin, Newton Harrison & Helen Mayer Harrison, Viet Ngo, and James Turrell. The artists vary in approach but are somewhat related in their concern for the environment, and for some environmental degradation is related to a decline in spirituality. There are many color reproductions and the text is a good introduction to this vein of artistic production up to 1995, however for more recent information I suggest www.greenmuseum.org or the exhibition catalog for ecovention, which was at the Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Center in 2002. | ||
