Product Description Help students make sense of mathematics Rather than merely discussing how to improve students’ ability to do mathematics, this fifth edition focuses on helping them make sense of mathematics. Based on research on the functioning of the mind as it engages in learning, the text supports teachers as they promote mathematical understanding, strengthen students’ abilities to think, and help students to attain computational fluency. An Excellent Tool for Problem-Solving Approach I have just completed a graduate level course at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln on teaching mathematics using a problem-solving approach. This book helped immensely in designing plans for instruction for the gamut of mathematical concepts and is keyed to the NCTM 2000 Standars for each grade level. An excellent resource for teachers who want to keep up to date! | ||
