If you are looking for a useful academic book this is not it Okay who ever put this book together FIRST needs to buy, read and USE the Chicago Manual of Style. I bought this book to read on my thesis. Bourdieu is difficult to under stnad through his own writing, however he is often explained well by others. That happens in this book. Where it falls down is in having ANY logical order for it's Bibliography (which grad studens would want to mine). Throughout this book the citations are (year:page). However when one goes back to the Bibliography there is no way to figure out which book they are referencing I wanted to use this to get a handle on his theories and reference me to other works so that I could see in his own texts where he was discussing his own ideas. You cannot do that with this book. When I see a citation of (1990e:34). I expect to find in a well ordered bibliography a reference to the fifth book or article he published in 1990. No such luck. If you just want to read about his stuff this is an okay book. If you want an actually useful book from which you can expand what you are working on, skip it. | ||
