Philosophy of HRM: Promises and Caviets This is perhaps the first book on HRM in India, which seems to show that Indians understand HRM in the sense in which it is understood in the developed world. Most Indians equate HRM with HRD, which to me appears strange. Perhaps the best chapter in the Introductory one by one of the editors, Professor Debi S. saini. It was just a joy to read this chapter. The author clarifies the issues at stake with wonderful panache, and with a flair or remarcable inter-disciplinary sensitivity. His intertwining philosophical overtones in his analysis arouses immense interest of the reader in the term HRM and its components. The book also cautions about the dangers involved in HRM to the presence of pluralism in industry. Apart from the introductory chapter, I especially enjoyed reading Chapters 2, 4 and the last one. The book ends making a wonderful case for developing transformational leadership across the Board for HR agenda to succeed. The book is a must read for those who wish to have a scholarly treatment of HRM; and more so for Indian academics, managers and students. | ||
