This book talks you through the process of installing NT Server on a machine, integrating that machine into a network, and getting the machine and its clients to perform needed functions. MCSE: NT Server 4 Study Guide begins by helping you think through the planning of a network--something that appears in a couple of the Sybex MCSE books. Lots of attention is given to selecting server hardware (particularly storage hardware) and getting NT properly configured at installation. Later chapters address performance tuning, post-installation addition of hardware and non-storage devices, such as modems and printers (shared and otherwise). NT Server has everything to do with networks, so protocols get plenty of space in these pages. TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, NetBEUI, and AppleTalk are covered to the extent that you need to understand them for the exam. RAS (Remote Access Service) gets its own chapter, which is appropriate because it's a large (and potentially confusing) part of the exam. The authors also give lots of attention to intranet operations, server management, and integrating NT machines with a NetWare-based network. Throughout the book, you'll find Q&A sections that mimic the exam and exercises that help you master the skills you need. Understand the material in this book thoroughly and you'll pass the NT Server exam.

Great Book really worth the price I own alot of books on the subjekt i used this book to study for an IT-Administrator degree (its a danish degree = mcp)and this book helpt me alot at the end of every chapter there is a test on the cdrom and i used this test to see if i was ready to carry on to the next chapter so if i dident pass the test i would have to start again this worked out and i got my it-admin grade 13 witch is = to a+ in your grades i strongly recoment this book to beginners after the book you are almost already a pro and able to set up almost any Windows NT domain
Not good enough for the exam I failed the exam using this book. The practice questions at the end of each chapter are not answered with explanations and some important concepts like mandatory profiles are not even mentioned. Many questions on the actual Sylvan exam exceeded the scope of this book in its explanation. The cd rom included had some questions that were precisely repeated with different answers! Though the book is quite readable, it does not use illustrations fully to show you how to access features with the graphical portion of NT. THe "MCSE Test Prep Windows NT Server 4" series by Que has much better test questions with explanations but you have to watch out because the multiple choice selections and the answer key answers with explanations are sometimes mismatched. I got 100s on all the practice exams and cd rom in this Strebe book but flunked the NT exam by Sylvan, even though this is certified by Microsoft as an adequate study guide.
Try this out I agreed with a lot readers who said that this book left many holes that need filling. However, it coverage of some topics was quite to my liking. I only used this book - no exam cram or exam notes - yet I passed the exam at first attempt, scoring 85%. You have to try and do all the exercises and I bet you, after your one hour in any of Sylvan Prometric centres you would out smiling.
Do not waste your money This book lacks enough relevant information to fail the 70-067 exam. Some information is outright incorrect. The review questions are too easy. I failed the exam twice. Then I used the e-books on the Windows NT installation CD and scored 899. This is the first and last time I will ever use a Sybex book.
This book is one of the single worst study exams out there As far as MCSE Certification, this book is horrible. It is missing many topic covered by the Server exam completely, and most of the others that it does cover are incomplete. This book would be a good book for beginners wanting to adminsister a very small NT Network, however very inadequate for the test 70-067. Use Alan Carter's book -- That book is almost perfect.
