Product Description This monograph presents a concise and thorough treatment of release, migration and entrapment of fine particles in natural porous media. The first chapter treats the practical consequences of release and migration of fine particles in porous media. This is followed by a discussion of the basic mechanisms of release, transport and entrapment of fines. Mathematical and network models for prediction of permeability reduction are subsequently discussed. The last two chapters cover methods to prevent the release of fines and address the consequences for soil pollution. This comprehensive book is of interest to chemical, civil and petroleum engineers and environmental scientists and can also be used as a reference textbook for courses at senior and graduate level.

From the Experts Fogler and his erstwhile student Khilar have come back to the topic that was the focus of their original collaboration. Khilar's seminal thesis set the tone for migration of fines in porous media back in the 80s. Fogler has had an army of students and collaboartors, from around the world, explored various aspects of particle transport in porous media - like oil reservoirs. This monograph is a succinct and lucid account of their knowledge and work in the area. I recommend it to those want to learn more about colloid stability and interparticle forces and transport.
