Product Description The hit poetry collection from the creative force behind The Smashing Pumpkins
Having risen to fame during the grunge era in the early nineties, Billy Corgan is among the most respected figures of the alternative rock world—a visionary artist who, more than a decade later, still commands a devoted following. Long admired for his evocative songwriting, Corgan embarks on a deeper exploration of literary terrain as a poet. Full of “the regretful melancholy of his music [and] the rhythmic, angular wordplay of his best Pumpkins lyrics” (Jeff Vrabel, Chicago Sun-Times), the poems in this collection form an imagistic journey through the intensely personal as Corgan throws into sharp relief issues of love, loss, identity, and loyalty. Crafted with a thoughtful and cadenced approach that shares the same allegiance to thunder and quiet found in his music, these writings further solidify Corgan’s place as the voice of a generation.

Poetry? That is the question Many reviewers tend to claim that this is not poetry. Well, that depends on your own definition of poetry. Its true that most of the poems in the book are just streams of consciousness and emotions, but then again most poetry is that way. Most of the poems, however, are not very pleasant to the ears. A twixt a twine is only poem i thought was really good in the whole book and that is why i only rated the book two stars. Its just not that great of a poetry book especially for those that read a lot of great poetry and then compare it to Corgans. Corgan is one of the most talented songwriters out there but fails on this attempt at words without music. However, the positives of the book is that it lets one see inside the soul of a rock legend, but then again so does most of the Pumpkins music. Overall this book i think was written for the author more than for the reader and for that it probably succeeded in letting corgan voice some of his inner demons that maybe he couldn't release in music. Anyway its only for the die hard Corgan fans out there and will probably spend its time on a shelf tucked away after the initial read or look through.
Great book! This is a great collection of poetry by the wonderfully talented Billy Corgan. I recommend it to anyone, especially those who like his musical works.
HA! This is some of the goofiest writing I've ever read . Talk about inarticulately self indulgent. But it was awesome. My wife and I would read poems out loud to each other and laughed our heads off. It was so bad, it was totally great. Amazing. Not sure to give it one or five stars. It may be the funniest book I've ever read.
Maybe I'm missing something I loved the Pumpkins. I also know that great poems are few and far between. I think I got frustrated trying to find meaning that only the soul writting it could understand. Now don't get me wrong, there is some substance here (the box and the warmth of morning)but most of it is just wandering thought. The only thing I might add, is I think that I would buy Corgan's second attempt.
Godawful This is not poetry. This is a washed up ex-rockstar who had the celibrity to publish his self-indulgent, trite, and often unreadable garble. This book is worth the time it takes to throw away.
