Elegant, rigorous, readable! This is a very well written microeconomics book for graduate students. It has good balance in terms of conventional and modern topics. I see it having a niche somewhere in between the spectrum of Varian and Kreps. Kreps uses preference theory and game theory extensively. Varian uses a more standard approach. Ichiishi is somewhere in between. There is good coverage of game theory and economics of information and uncertainty. Good solid mathematical treatment, at the same time very readable and practical. I think this should be the text for a standard first course for grad students. I refer to this book regularly as an economist because of its easy accessibility of information. A strong thumbs up Ichiishi! | ||
