Digital Nude and Beauty Photography Made Simple This is a very good book on glamour photography. Well-written and cleanly organized, it covers a number of aspects of glamour photography that will appeal to both the beginning photographer and the more advanced. It is not a step-by-step cookbook, but rather a guide to help you think about what you are doing, why you are doing it, and how you can do it better. It is a good starting point for learning about lens selection, lighting and other essentials of glamour photography. In addition, Mr. Gomez includes a few really helpful tips that can help save money on equipment without sacrificing quality. I strongly recommend it.
Awesome!!! Great advise and tips. I love Rolando's work. After reading his other books I decided I need to have every one. All though, you may see some of the same tips and explanations in different books I feal they are important keys and perfect reminders. Not only do his books teach you about lighting and posing they teach you how to work and talk with your subject which I find is most important part when doing fashion and glamour photography. The wisdom that he shares I have put into good use. I have been able to put it towards my own photography business doing portrait, glamour, fashion and wedding photos.
Excellent Book on the Subject Mr Gomez has done a great job at creating a simple, easy-to-follow guide to glamour and nude photography. With everyday props and sets, he shows the reader how to create interesting and provocative images of models. I had the opportunity to meet and speak to Mr. Gomez shortly after the release of this book. He is very talented and very knowledgable. At the same event, I met the model on the cover of the book. She explained that Mr. Gomez is a true professional and helped to launch her modeling career.
Outstanding book, great reference A well written and comprehensive guide covering the entire process of creating alluring glamour images. Strengths of this book are the top notch images and advice from a professional with decades of experience. This book is the complete deal, from the planning stages to equipment, props, lighting and posing to name a few. Its easy to reap the benefits this book provides.
Disappointing Not a fan of the writing style nor layout of this book. The photos are very non remarkable for the most part. The photographer describes his style in the book, it's not mine and perhaps I'm biased? But I don't think skin should be THAT yellow. There's a time and a place for flash gels but imo most of the photos in this book are way overboard, very jaundiced looking. As for the homemade fluorescent light setup mentioned in other reviews. Unless you wish to spend time in photoshop removing the very distracting and very strange eye reflections, don't bother. The light looks...uh...fluorescent, I suppose, but not particularly soft fluorescent as there's no soft box or any other filter in front of it. With 4 catchlights in the models eyes in examples from the book I would definitely alter that plan. Plus a 4x6 hunk of plywood with a hole cut in the middle to insert your camera limits mobility drastically with such a light. It's a one trick pony and that trick isn't even that great.
